Veterans of the Storm (VOTS) is a suicide prevention program designed for veterans who are struggling but not connecting to traditional services. Instead of waiting for a crisis, VOTS engages veterans earlier—when they feel overwhelmed, burned out, or like they can’t keep going but aren’t ready to say they’re suicidal. Through peer support, we help veterans make sense of what’s happening, reduce isolation, and build trust. We provide real-time support and practical tools to stabilize difficult moments, while case managers assess risk, create individualized plans, and connect veterans to VA and community services. Most importantly, we ensure follow-through so veterans don’t fall through the cracks. By focusing on early engagement, understanding, and consistent support, VOTS works to prevent suicide before it reaches the crisis point.
If you’re not sure what’s going on but something feels off—this is where to begin.
